New Year, New...? Reflections and Intentions for 2019

Friday, December 14, 2018 - 12:30

Before you switch off your computer for the festive break – or if you have some quiet time over the next couple of weeks – you may want to spend time reflecting on 2018 and setting your intentions for the year ahead.

An hour with a notebook and pen – or with one or two people from your group to chat to – could generate some great insights and ideas.

You could write about or discuss:

  • What were your greatest achievements over the past year? (For you personally and for your group?)
  • What were the lessons learnt?
  • What do you need more of next year?
  • What do you need less of next year?
  • How could you achieve more / less of what you need?
  • Who could you reach out to for support?
  • Who could you partner with next year?
  • What do you resolve / commit to doing in 2019?

Fundraising top tip:

Your supporters will also be making resolutions. Why not ask them to commit to their intentions by making a donation of £20 (or other amount)? If you have the capacity, you could then ask them each month how they are doing – via your e-newsletter, social media, or a personalised email to your ‘new year challenge club’. If you have even more capacity, you could even organise a get-together for them at the start of the year and at other points during the year to help keep them motivated about their resolutions (and engaged with your cause)!

And in case you were wondering, here are the LGBT Consortium’s resolutions for 2019!

  1. Continuing to improve our offer to Members; including supporting them to fundraise and achieve sustainability.
  2. Updating our own fundraising strategy.
  3. Improving how we communicate to Members and others about our strategic work.

Wishing you a wonderful festive period.
