Programme Areas

The Consortium undertakes a range of specific project and demonstration activities to support the development and knowledge base of the LGBT third sector. Currently these are grouped into themes; and operate either nationally or regionally.

Health – These projects provide support to LGBT groups and organisations on particular health issues; or focus on the development of good practice within LGBT organisations that undertake health and social care activities.

Volunteering – These projects consider the development of volunteering development, support and training for LGBT organisations and/or individuals. This can include specific competency training, guidance on Investing in Volunteering, accreditation or the delivery/promotion of new volunteering opportunities.

Young People and Families – These projects develop the support and knowledge of LGBT organisations and groups around young people’s needs and involvement in the voluntary sector. These include guidance on policy and local planning; engaging with funders; professional development; information; and the development of new bodies to represent the voice of LGBT young people.

National – All national projects provide a range of information, guidance and support through publications, events and personal contact. The level of direct capacity building support is limited, but they do provide links into local support structures that can help the local group benefit from the project activities.

Regional – regional projects provide a range of direct support, local strategic research and representation, events and training, and other capacity building activities to help LGBT organisations interested/involved in project themes.
