Colchester Gay Switchboard

Since 1979 Colchester Gay Switchboard have worked throughout North Essex to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgendered individuals and those affected by HIV and AIDS. From our building in Colchester, The Outhouse, we provide a 5 nights a week 7-10pm Helpline. If you have something on your mind our trained volunteers are here to listen and help you talk through any issues you wish, totally confidential. Our cafe area is open on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings providing a safe place to meet other LGBT people. We also have a dedicated Youth Group hosted by a professional Youth Worker for those aged 13 to 19. We focus on North Essex simply because we are based in Colchester but we work hard to hold details on venues and organisations throughout the East of England. So, regardless of where you are, if you want to talk we are here 5 nights a week to listen, whether it be Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire or further afield. Colchester Gay Switchboard is a registered charity with elected Trustees.
