Trans Community Statement of Need Workshop
Consortium Event
31 August 2011 - 10:30am
Address:
Cardiff City Hall
This workshop is being held in conjunction with the 6th LGBT Health Summit in Cardiff on 1 & 2 September 2011. We hope many representatives of trans organisations attending the Summit will find it convenient to attend the community workshop on 31 August.
This event follows a series of community workshops previously held in collaboration with the Government Equalities Office (GEO), the LGBT Consortium, GIRES and many other trans organisations to develop the Trans Community Statement of Needs (SON).
The current version of the document is available here.
Already this document identifies several different areas of responsibility for the actions required to meet the community’s needs. Some fall within the government’s remit and are helping to shape the Cross-Government Transgender Equality Action Plan due to be
published by the end of 2011. Some fall within the remit of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). Others rest with the community itself.
This workshop will focus on the actions the community can embrace. Together, the participants will consider the relative priorities of the possible actions and how to implement them. This consultation process will engage the community, elicit the opinions of participants,
review relevant work that is already under way and seek to carry us forward in agreeing what needs to be done, how it can be pursued and by whom.
Please reserve your place with the workshop convener :
