Getting Our Voices Heard: Campaigning and Influencing Workshop

Build your influencing and campaigning skills at this free one-day workshop and skill-share for community activists and LGBT organisation staff and volunteers.

This workshop will help you to:

  • Share experiences, skills and strategies to grow a strong, diverse and united movement.
  • Communicate effectively with the media and through social media.
  • Put over your case to politicians and to your local community.
  • Understand the Gender Recognition Act and how LGBT organisations can speak out for reform.

By the end of the day you will have developed a practical, tailored action plan for your organisation to use to campaign on the issues that matter to you.

We will be using the proposed reform the 2004 Gender Recognition Act as a learning framework for the day, as this will be at the forefront of the work of the sector during 2018.

This year is a watershed moment for trans and non-binary rights, as the reform of the Gender Recognition Act has enormous potential to shift public attitudes. The LGBT sector will play a pivotal role in galvanising all LGBT communities to be allies to trans and non-binary people.

This workshop will help resource LGBT groups to speak out - as trans and non-binary people, LGB people, and allies who believe in equality - and to ensure that our voices are heard.

Dates:

Friday 13 April, 10-4pm

Saturday 14 April, 10-4pm

Venue: Central London

This workshop is hosted by the LGBT Consortium and Stonewall.
