Consortium to Join Government's LGBT Advisory Panel

Saturday, November 3, 2018 - 08:45

Today the Government announced their plans for investing in the LGBT sector to help fulfill their commitments set out in the LGBT Action Plan. As part of these plans, Minister for Women and Equalities Penny Mordaunt has announced the formation of an LGBT Advisory Panel which will bring together expertise from within our communities and ensure the views of LGBT people and communities are heard at a policy level.

Consortium is proud to have been appointed alongside the LGBT Foundation and Stonewall to sit on this Advisory Panel. Paul Roberts OBE, Chief Executive of Consortium said, "This is a unique opportunity to ensure we get the views and experiences of grassroots LGBT groups and organisations heard at a Government level. We are passionate about raising the voices of our communities right across the country and will listen to our Membership of 320 organisations and raise the issues that matter to them. We are excited to sit alongside the LGBT Foundation and Stonewall as the first Members of this Advisory Panel"

There will be 12 appointments in total, with an open recruitment for the remaining 9 places. Details of the process can be found at Applications are open until Wednesday 21st November.

Also in today's announcement are details of several funding opportunities for the LGBT sector and Consortium will ensure that our Members have as much opportunity to engage with these as possible when the process opens.
