Exploring the Relationship between LGBT Groups and the Law: Survey Launched

Tuesday, November 7, 2017 - 18:00

LGBT Consortium, funded by The Legal Education Foundation, have released a new survey aiming to explore the relationship between LGBT Groups and the law.

As a part of this new project LGBT Consortium are running a series of information gathering events and interviews which will highlight where there are gaps in knowledge, confidence and skills in the LGBT Sector.

All LGBT Group from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are invited to take part in the survey, including the ones who think that it’s not relevant to them.

Paul Roberts, CEO of LGBT Consortium said “This project is a crucial piece of work for our sector at a time when we need to be upskilling grassroots LGBT organisations across the country. We want to support LGBT groups so they can engage more effectively with relevant law and understand them in context and how to use knowledge to build comprehensive business cases for service delivery and funding."

Vicky Worthington, Membership and Engagement Manager at the Consortium added “The LGBT groups that feel that this might not be relevant to them are the very groups  I want to encourage to take part in this project. We want to use this data to paint a picture of how LGBT Groups of all shapes and sizes engage with the law in their work. Whether that be a small LGBT youth group indirectly engaging though informal signposting at a social group, a small trans group sharing information about legal rights or a larger staffed LGBT group offering legal advice to LGBT asylum seekers, it’s all relevant”

If you are part of an LGBT group you can take part in the survey here

You do not need to be a Member of LGBT Consortium to take part but if you would like to find out more about joining then contact the Engagement Team here.

If you would like to take part in one of the Roundtable discussion events or have any questions about the project please get in touch with Vicky.
