Last week the Government Equalities Office announced a range of LGBT focussed grants and contracts on their Contracts Finder Website.
We have created a brief overview of each grant or contract, please click on the link for each fund for full details, deadlines and information about application processes.

LGBT Health and Social Care Fund

The Government Equalities Office (GEO) is seeking to fund up to £1,000,000 of projects aimed at tackling LGBT health inequality. The GEO are not specifying what area of LGBT health inequality should be tackled by the fund. Projects could consider issues that affect the whole LGBT population, such as reducing suicide or self-harm; or be aimed at specific sub-sets of the LGBT population, such as improving the health of lesbian and bisexual women. Projects can also focus on improving the skills or knowledge of the health or social care workforce.

Exploring Homelessness among LGBT People

The GEO are seeking expressions of interest to conduct a research project on homelessness among LGBT groups in the UK. The research will explore the experiences of homelessness, expectations of treatment, and needs for support among LGBT people, and how this compares with non-LGBT homeless people. It will also look at what can be done to improve support for homeless LGBT people. The research includes a review of evidence and qualitative research with relevant participants, including homeless LGBT people.

Anti-Homophobic, Biphobic and Transphobic (HBT) Bullying Fund

Phase 3 of an ongoing programme of funding. The GEO is seeking to appoint organisations to design and deliver a package of interventions to tackle HBT Bullying in schools.

LGBT Consortium hope to continue to lead an Alliance of 9 Members in delivering this work and will be submitting a bid on the National Anti HBT Bullying Alliances behalf. If you want to find out more about the Alliance or are interested in becoming a part of it please get in touch with our Membership & Engagement Manager

LGBT Sector and Community Development Scheme

The GEO is seeking to appoint an organisation to deliver an "LGBT Sector and Community Development Scheme" to administer a grant scheme, distributing grants to small LGBT groups and organisations. Alongside that the appointed organisation will deliver a range of skills development and training interventions to the same grant funding recipient organisations to help them scale, mature and operate more effectively.

LGBT Consortium will be submitting a bid to deliver this scheme with a view to putting an innovative useful programme in place for the sector.

Conversion Therapy among LGBT people - Evidence Review and Qualitative Study

To inform the development of potential policy options to end the practice of conversion therapy with (LGBT people in the UK, The GEO is seeking expressions of interest to carry out a research project to include a rapid evidence review around conversion therapy, and qualitative research involving LGBT participants who have directly experienced conversion therapies in the UK.
