LGBT Consortium have teamed up with The Government Equalities Office

Friday, September 4, 2015 - 10:15

LGBT Consortium is working with The Government Equalities Office to run a series of learning events and roundtable style consultation events to better understand key LGBT issues and upskill the sector in working with Government.

Government has identified a range of priority areas for LGBT policy and would like to explore these in more detail. A series of interactive roundtable style consultation events on these priority areas will be held around the country. The events will enable the sector to explore gaps in this area, identify what makes these issues stand out for LGBT people and communities and demonstrate what would make the biggest difference in this area.

Paul Roberts, LGBT Consortium Cheif Exec said "We are excited to be working with the Governement Equality Office on these events and are encouraged by their proactive attitude towards hearing the voice of the LGBT Sector. These events will offer the LGBT Sector a unique opportunity to be heard by Government and will enable us to work together to design solutions that could lead to real change."

The first two events are to be held in London on Friday 9th October. The morning session will be exploring Media Portrayals of Trans People and the the afternoon session will focus on Media Portrayals of LGB People.

There will also be a series of learning events designed to help upskill LGBT organisations on what Parliament is and does, and also on how to better engage with Government. The first two sessions will also be held in London on Thursday 12th November.

Events will be held around the country including; London, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester between October and March. Due to the nature of the events there are limited spaces availble, so click here to register your interest for any or all of the events.
