Online Hub for Trans Organisations & Community Groups Launched

Monday, July 2, 2018 - 10:45

LGBT Consortium’s Trans Organisations Network (TON) has launched an online space for people who run Trans organisations and community groups, creating a collaborative space on issues affecting Trans people.

Established in 2015, TON exists to promote collaboration, knowledge/skills sharing and building new relationships amongst trans-specific organisations across the United Kingdom.

During the General Election of 2015 the Network sought Prospective Parliamentary Candidates support for the key principles in the first ever Trans Manifesto, which achieved the support of 364 candidates.

Shaan Knan, LGBT Consortium’s TON worker said “as we await the imminent launch of the consultation for the reform of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA), it’s more important than ever that Trans Groups, their volunteers and staff to have a safe space where we can collaborate with one another”.

Shaan, who coordinates the Network will be joined by Jane Fae, journalist and activist, over the summer who will working with LGBT Consortium, Mermaids and GIRES to coordinate positive Trans  media messages and making sure groups are supported to participate in the GRA consultation.

While TON will be working hard to ensure that Trans organisations and groups feel supported during the consultation period, its also vital that LGBT organisations and groups add their voices to the consultation when it is published.

LGBT Consortium Member’s who are already part of the TON will have access to the online space. For any Trans Organisation or Groups who are not Members but want to be involved – get in touch here
