LGBT+ Health and Wellbeing Officer

Merton LGBT+ Forum are looking for a part-time volunteer to focus on health & wellbeing advocacy, support and promotion.

The position, as for all roles with the Forum, is unpaid although necessary expenses will be met.

All Forum volunteers need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to the organisation’s ethos, work and supporting policies as well as issues affecting and involving the wider organisation.

The Forum currently provides its own website, regular meetings (both Forum related and open), projects supporting young people, older people, health & wellbeing and, of course, a regular social programme.


The role:

  1. To keep up to date with all professional issues concerning LGBT+ health and wellbeing, especially in respect of both need and provision within the Merton area.
  2. To work closely with the Forum’s Health Project Manager (HPM) who currently has overall responsibility for work on health & wellbeing.
  3. To liaise with other Forum committee members, attending meetings and other appropriate events and activities. 
  4. To take minutes at both committee and health & wellbeing meetings for approval by the HPM.
  5. With the HPM, to identify local organisations and resources with whom the Forum can jointly work on health & wellbeing projects.
  6. To quantify who we can support within the local community and what their specific needs are.
  7. To conduct research into health and wellbeing topics in support of the role.
  8. To lead on individual health and wellbeing projects and initiatives as agreed with the HPM.
