Support and Advice for Sexual Health (SASH) Counsellor

METRO is seeking a committed, motivated and suitably qualified individual to deliver counselling for people dealing with issues related to their sexual health, including people living with HIV (PLHIV) within the Support and Advice for Sexual Health (SASH) programme.

METRO, in partnership with Turning Point, NAZ, London Friend, and Marie Stopes, deliver a model of sexual health support throughout the three London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.

Turning Point is the lead partner for the contract and a matrix staffing model is in place. The post-holder will work within the partnership and be line-managed by METRO SASH Counselling Manager, and work alongside staff from other agencies. The role will also be clinically supervised via independent supervisor arranged through METRO.

The post holder will deliver high-quality person-centred services within a busy inner London environment. The clients are from diverse communities affected by sexual health and mental health issues, and the role will support staff to work with people from communities such as LGBTQ and Black and Asian Minority Ethnic backgrounds and young people.

The post holder will take referrals from the SASH Care Coordination Team, conduct a clinical assessment, and deliver a series of long or short counselling sessions. Working within the SASH teams, and being part of METRO Mental Health Domain, the post holder will be in close liaison with all of our HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health services. The post holder will work with the managers to build a team of volunteer counsellors who may also support the work of the programme.
