Exciting opportunity for a Research Officer to work in the School of Applied Social Science on a novel health services research study funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Services & Delivery Research programme.

Queer Futures 2 is led by Professor Elizabeth McDermott, Lancaster University. The study will produce evidence on early intervention and self-care mental health services that are accessible and acceptable for LGBT youth with common mental health problems.

You will have a PhD in a social science or health science related-field, advanced knowledge and skills in qualitative research methods, experience of working with young people and knowledge of the health concerns facing the LGBT sector. You will need to have sensitive and effective interpersonal skills, be able to communicate well with a wide range of stakeholders (including young people), and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be based in Brighton, working with Professor Katherine Johnson and Professor Flis Henwood, but will also work as part of a national team and may on occasion need to work elsewhere, staying overnight, to meet the demands of the study. Previous research experience in gender and sexuality studies, working with LGBT youth, and contribution to research outputs is desirable.

The nature of this role will mean that a DBS check will be required.
