Senior Research Officer

We’re the UK’s largest charity campaigning for equality for lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) people here and around the world. We are passionate about protecting and extending LGBT equality in the UK and our Campaigns Policy and Research (CPR) Team are at the heart of our understanding of the many forms of inequality that affect the lives of LGBT people in Britain.

Despite considerable progress, many LGBT people still experience discrimination and abuse, and the rights we have so far achieved are under threat from those who disagree with LGBT equality. The CPR team are at the heart of Stonewall’s programme to protect and extend LGBT equality in the UK. We work hard to ensure all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people know they're not alone and use our specialised knowledge to identify the best way to achieve positive change, influencing policy makers and mobilizing the power of individual and collective action across Britian.

As Senior Research Officer you will be at the heart of Stonewall’s strategic approach as an evidence-based campaigning organisation, empowering a movement of LGBT people and allies to change hearts and minds in their community. Reporting to the Head of Research, you will work with university partners and research agencies to lead on the delivery of research across a range of issues affecting LGBT communities across the globe. You will work strategically with teams across Stonewall to identify research needs and co-ordinate solutions, supporting teams to evidence their impact.

You will relish the practical application of research findings, being adept at communicating research to a wide range of audiences with the ability to work closely with colleagues across Stonewall to ensure research supports out campaign objectives. As part of your commitment to advancing research priorities for LGBT people, you’ll also work with other organisations, universities and agencies to influence and support them to include the needs of LGBT communities in their efforts. This is a creative and fulfilling role in a fast-paced environment where you’ll get to see your research make a difference.

If you’ve got the skills and are ready to start working for LGBT rights and equality, please complete and return an application form by 9.30am on 16th September 2019. Interviews will follow on Wednesday 25th September 2019.
