Meet the Consortium staff team

Paul Roberts OBE - Chief Executive Officer

Paul is the Chief Executive for LGBT Consortium and has been with LGBT Consortium since 2011 and has worked in the LGBT voluntary sector for over 15 years. Paul leads on the strategic development of the organisation, ensuring that Member voices are heard across a wide range of platforms, including with Government bodies and other voluntary sector agencies. Paul also leads on fundraising for the organisation and developing Consortium as one of the leading infrastructure bodies in the voluntary sector.

In his spare time, Paul is known for constantly renovating houses and on the lookout for his next project to call home. He lives in Nottingham with his partner Jack and two interesting(!) dogs.


Vicky Worthington - Membership & Engagement Manager

Vicky joined the team in 2013 and leads on all of our membership and engagement work here at Consortium.  As well as managing the Engagement Team, Vicky leads on various projects and pieces of collaborative work with Members, specialising in creating and facilitating peer and sector networks.  

Vicky has a wealth of voluntary sector experience and has worked and volunteered in the LGBT sector since 2003. 

Vicky lives in Devon with her wife and their two rescue hounds and spends most of her free time skulking around the courtyside calling for her dogs to come back.


Philip Moir - Engagement & Information Officer

Philip joined the team at the begining of 2015, filling the new role of Administration and Information Officer. Since then, Philip's role has developed to reflect the important work he has been involved in developing and supporting our ever increasing and diverse membership.

Philip, once a volunteer with LGBT Consortium, comes from an administrative background and has an excellent track record in developing and implementing new systems of working. He also has a wealth of knowledge and experience with setting up and running sucessful social media campaigns.

Philip is an active volunteer, and previous Trustee for Exeter Pride. In his spare time he is a keen runner and climber.

Harri Weeks - Stakeholder Engagement Manager for the National LGB&T Partnership

Harri is based within the Consortium staff team, but works for The National LGB&T Partnership as its Stakeholder Engagement Manager. You can find out more about The National LGB&T Partnership and the work they are involved with by clicking here.

Harri has worked in the equality and diversity sector, with a particular emphasis on LGBT and trans issues and higher education and health issues, for the last 10 years. In their spare time, Harri takes adult beginner ballet classes, and watches WFTDA roller derby.


Sophie Wainwright - National LGBT Anti-Bullying Project Coordinator

Sophie has a wide range of experience in the charity sector, particularly in project-based roles creating social change, from a large-scale EU-funded project to community behaviour change projects. She has worked for various equalities-led organisations and currently also works as Development Manager leading a county-wide disability network.

She is a trustee for an international development organisation and enjoys photography and pottering about in nature.


Shaan Surat Knan - Trans Organisations Network (TON) Worker

Shaan joined the team in June 2017 as our TON worker. Find out more about our networks and partnerships here.

He has been an LGBTQI campaigner with various international agencies for over a decade, with a particular emphasis on trans, non-binary and intersectional issues.  He is a member of the Stonewall Trans Advisory Group, and GIRES.  Shaan also works as LGBTQI heritage manager for Liberal Judaism, and has run a number of landmark projects including Twilight People and more recently Rainbow Pilgrims.  Alongside his role with the LGBT Consortium, he will continue building his career as a diversity consultant. 

Shaan lives in Middlesex and loves the outdoors. He feels passionate about wildlife conservation and animals - especially cats big and small.


Martin Karadzhov - LGBT London Engagement Officer

Martin joined in September 2017, as the London Engagement Officer. He will be working alongside one of our members GMFA to produce a digital mapping tool of all the LGBT services across London. Find more about the role here.

Martin has more than 6 years of experience in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), particularly advocating for Comprehensive Sexuality Education and LGBT rights.

He is actively involved with SRHR and youth organisation and networks in Europe.

Alongside his work for the Consortium, Martin will continue working for one of our partners METRO, where he leads two LGBTQ youth services and delivers trainings for professionals.

In his spare time, Martin enjoys writing scripts and going to the theatre.


Maria Antoniou - Funding Development Officer

Maria joined the team in October 2018 and is developing training and resources to help LGBT groups fundraise and become more sustainable. She is also involved in scoping and consultation work around a UK-wide LGBT Fund.

Maria has worked in the charity sector for the past 10 years, mostly in fundraising and operations roles. She was Interim Director of Brighton & Hove LGBT Switchboard in 2014-15.

Maria lives in East Sussex with her partner and enjoys long beach walks, spirituality workshops, and the usual introvert past-times of reading and thinking!
